The Sarawak State Library serves both as the State Library and as the Depository Center for preserving publications, public records of the state government, and archival materials in Sarawak. To ensure its continued relevance to the community, the library organizes various activities, including writing and publishing programs through the biennial Sarawak Authors Festival (SAF). This festival reinforces the library's role as the Legal Deposit Center, as mandated by Section 15 of the Sarawak State Library Ordinance, 1999. Continuing the tradition from 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2022, the Sarawak State Library will once again organize the Sarawak Authors Festival for the fifth time this year with the theme 'Information Technology in Writing' or 'Teknologi maklumat dalam penulisan’, scheduled from October 28, 2024, to November 3, 2024, alongside the Sarawak Book Fair and Authors Festival 2024 (SBAF2024).
